Troy Schauls, a native of Washington State, discovered the power of photography in the early 1990s while an undergraduate at Western Washington University. While pursuing degrees in journalism and political science and later while studying computer science at the University of Washington and ever since, Troy has spent countless hours in the field and in the chemical darkroom learning, experimenting and polishing his skills. While those darkroom skills have proved invaluable, as of 2003 Troy has gone 100% digital.

Over the last decade Troy has developed a style that showcases his love of travel, nature and the outdoors and his passion for revealing, impromptu natural-light portraiture. In recent years Troy has visited more than 20 countries and all western American states with cameras in his luggage, on his back, on a tripod and his in hands (but never around his neck).

When not out in the field making photos, Troy spends most days creating software used by hundreds of millions of people around the world at a huge technology company headquarted in Redmond, Washington. He is currently based out of Seattle can be contacted here.
